Featherhead

 Feather hair extensions are easy to put in your hair, as long as you have the right tools and supplies on hand! In a matter of minutes you can be rockin' a feather head. If you want a natural look, I would recommend purchasing feathers that match your hair color. For a bolder look, go for feathers with bright colors and different textures. I think its best to purchase natural and bold colors by bulk (you can never have enough). You can mix it and use it on friends as well. You can purchase feathers at a local beauty supply store or online at Fine Featherheads and such. Decide where you want to put the feathers before you start the process. 

Materials Needed:

• Hair extension micro links: I highly suggest using silicone lined links because their hold lasts longer and removal is much easier. Purchase links that will match your hair color. 
• Hair hook: Purchase a hair hook that is designed for extensions that has a little latch on it. You can find these online easily.
• Hair clamp: I bought my clamps that specially made for extensions. 
• Scissors
• Real feathers: Do not use the synthetic kind. They will burn. 
• Hair clip

1. Take one micro link and place it through the tip of the hair hook. Choose where you want the extensions to lie, usually under a few layers of hair so the micro link can be hidden. Pin the top layer of your hair out of the way with a hair clip. Select a few pieces of hair, twist them a few times, and hook the hair hook into the hair strands.
2. Slide the micro link upward toward the tip of the hair hook and onto your hair, near the root of the hairs. Slide the tip of your feathers through the micro link and pieces of hair. 
3. Hold the mico link, feathers, and hair in place and gently clamp down on the micro link to squish them together. You may trim the tips of the feathers if they're too long.
4. To take out the feather extension, find the micro link and gently clamp it in the opposite direction to open it up. Slip the micro link and feather out your hair. If the feather has been properly taken care of, you will be able to reuse it repeatedly.

 * They can be brushed, blow-dried, straightened, and curled (up to 450 degrees) ---basically they can be treated like natural hair. They can usually last up to two months depending on how well you take care of them!
